Directions for those who can't find their way out of a paper bag....

Directions for those who can't find their way out of a paper bag with a map and light to follow drive me nuts. Honestly, how hard it to find your way to something that is 17 stories high (highest building in the city) and has it name in big letters and a block from where you were paged. Oh, and being in dispatch means my job is less then crews because I am not as busy as they are. Oh no, they are doing one call. I am doing several at one time. So go ahead and don't look at you map, GPS or even your surroundings you are the one traveling around a city with lights and sirens looking like an absolute idiot. You know why........ when you write the incident up and say dispatch wasn't doing there job. They are going to say that dispatch was taking three 911 calls with two people. They will tell you that you have a map, GPS and should have been looking around for markers. (i.e. the only 17 story building around which you should know if you have worked in this county for longer then a day!!!!!!)

Mornings

So, you know when you go to bed you plan your day..... right. Well, yesterday I did that very thing then wake up in a panic because I decided to plan the morning while I was tired so I had forgotten six other things that I needed to get done. So I am rushed, car is a sheet of ice that has to be scrapped off and I am supposed to pick up John five minutes ago because it is my day to drive for carpooling. It is great how when you are tired the only thing you can think about is that you are tired and your bed is the best place in the world!!!!! Oh, on a side note it also helps if you get to bed at a decent time. (not 11:30) and not have to be up early. (05:15am). I thought I would be honest. (grumble grumble). NEED COFFEE. Plus, ( more on my soap box) you would think that because you are not busy, that no one is busy. AHHHH, YOU WOULD THINK THAT WHEN A 911 OPERATOR PUTS YOU ON HOLD BECAUSE YOU DO NOT HAVE A LIFE THREATENING INJURY THAT MEANS TO KEEP CALLING UNTIL YOU TALK TO SOMEONE!!!!!!!!! YOU ARE NOT DEAD, DYING OR BLEEDING YOU CAN WAIT!!!!!! Ok,.... I done. However, I still need coffee. Bright spot is that the Muppet's have a new Christmas show on tonight. YEAH!!! Sad note. John is leaving for a month and I will not be able to talk to him or see him for 28 days............it is a very sad note, but happy that he gets to spend a month in Europe.

Back to Work.

So, after being off of work for five days I kinda forgot how hard it is to wake up at 5am...... Well, I remember. I also forgot how cold your car can be and how long it takes to warm up. However, it was great to get to work and see the snow fall. It was absolutely beautiful. I really wanted to fix some of Mom's hot chocolate and watch it fall.
What I am currently doing is dispatching and knitting. What do the two have in common you ask? Well, dispatching takes precedence and I need something to do in the down times. Knitting is something I don't have to think about, so I can pick it up at anytime and not have to worry about where I left off. My last rotation at work I made my sister a scarf (Jena). I finished that scarf and loved it. I am now making one for Jessica. The colors are hot pink, yellow, blue and neon green all the colors that fit Jessica

Monday's on Saturday.

0736Today is November 11th and it is a Saturday in Branson, MO. However, for my fellow red shifters and I it is Monday. I work on schedule of three days on, three days off. So every three days Monday shows her ugly head and then comes Wednesday and the ever wonderful Friday. So it is a Monday in every sense of the word except that it is in fact Saturday.
1508 As the day has worn on......it is still Monday. I have called every paramedic and emt employed for the ambulance twice!!!! To see if someone can work and have worked more seizure patients then I care to talk about. I have been cussed and cried to. I am ready to go to bed and the only problem is that it is only 1508 and I still have three hours left of my shift!!! No one else can call in because I refuse to bother anyone else to get them covered. I am being screened by my own co-workers. Plus, I refuse to do any more seizure calls I have the protocol memorized and I think I will shoot someone just to get a different call.
1637 Teresa and I have been trying to watch Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End for 4 hrs. I am still looking for people to work and so far (fingers crossed no Seizure pts) Monday has to end eventually. 23 calls and counting.
